Abstract: For the simulation of an electric machine we consider a least-squares formulation in appropriate function spaces which results in a mixed finite element scheme. Since the adjoint is zero in the continuous formulation, its Galerkin discretization can be used to define an a posteriori error estimator for the primal unknown to drive an adaptive scheme. In comparison to a uniform refinement scheme the adaptive scheme needs less degrees of freedom in order to reach the same accuracy. [hide abstract] | |
